Hembrygdsfestivalen 2012
Sällskapet Maltes annual homebrewing festival (Hembrygdsfestivalen) was held this Saturday at Limhamns Folkets Hus in Malmö. Around 250 people visited the event and it was a well-organized event with a lot of interesting beers. I am not surprised at all because I know that there are a lot of talented homebrewers in Sweden and Sällskapet Malte is a really creative and well-organised “society of beer enthusiasts”. I hope this annual festival will continue for many years!
This years winner was Hannes Gruber, Nerdbrewing, with his Else if Imperial Stout 2.0. It is an Imperial Stout (9.5%) with a lot of Magnum and Amarillo hops in it. The winning beer is a modified version of the Else If Imperial Stout that got an award at the Swedish Homebrewing championship 2012 as best newcomer (Årets Grönöling). The brewer wins the chance to brew the beer at Malmö Brygghus later on. If you want to try Else if Imperial Stout it will be available at Malmö Brygghus, the two Bishop’s Arms pubs in Malmö, at På Besök and a new pub in Möllevången. Last year´s winner, Jonas Carlsson Stroh and his Möllan Porter, was a huge success and I reckon this could be to.
